The Year-Long Journey to Becoming Our Best Self
What The Curvy Road Project it is and how it works.
Do you want to be healthier and happier? Do you crave more adventure and excitement? Do you desire better relationships? Do you want to attract better people? More, higher-quality sex? A more fulfilling career? Do you wish you had more financial security? Do you want closer friendships with people who respect you? Do you aspire to have more outlets for your creative energy? Do you want to be more confident, assertive, and kind?
Since about 2003, I’ve been working on a quest for personal growth. Over that time, I’ve learned a whole lot about getting the most out of life. And sharing what I’ve learned with others in my classrooms, on my blogs, in my books, with my colleagues… pretty much anywhere. These ideas, which are based on empirically-derived scientific principles, have proven time and time again to produce real, measurable positive results.
The problem? These ideas have mostly existed independently, in a vacuum. I’ve never put everything together into one cohesive project. Until now.
Over the years, I’ve done every idea I’ll present at one time or another, but some fade as time passes. So I slip back into bad habits. This project will allow me to personally re-visit and implement all of the ideas in a systematic way to establish permanent habits for living the best life I can possibly lead.
And I want you to come along with me and implement the ideas, too, because YOU deserve the best life possible, too.
The Idea
Over the next year, I’m going to implement all of what I’ve learned over these last nineteen years or so, one topic at a time, roughly once per week.
The ideas are all pretty simple, actionable things we can do to improve our lives in some way.
I’ll be explaining the ideas so you can implement them, too. The ideas will be presented in a specific way with the easiest, most impactful ideas presented in the beginning. The idea is to get some early, easy “wins", which gives you momentum. And momentum is the key to real, lasting, positive change.
It’s like a snowball rolling down a hill - it picks up momentum and grows exponentially larger as it tumbles downward.
Some of the ideas are also best implemented in sequential order; one idea provides a foundation for future ideas.
How It Works
The Curvy Road Project is simple. On the Roadmap page, you’ll find a list of all the ideas in order, starting with week one. Read that post. Implement the idea. If you have questions, comments, or want to share your experiences, subscribe using the “free” option on the red “Subscribe” buttons, then post a comment in the comments section on that week’s post.
For support, camaraderie and to meet the other people doing the challenge, join The Curvy Road Project Facebook Group. For information and more discussion, follow us on Twitter.
Just make sure you follow our Ground Rules to participate.
After week #1, we’ll continue implementing THAT idea, and we’ll add the idea from week #2. Same deal. Ask questions, engage in discussions, share experiences in the comments section on the posts here on the Project website or in the Facebook Group.
Take the Journey With Friends
While it’s entirely possible to go through this journey alone, having the support of a few other people can make the process a lot more fulfilling. And fun.
Think of the people in your life. Friends, family, coworkers, Bible study groups, classmates, teammates, or even a significant other. Are they living a charmed, perfect life? If not, they’d get something of value from this process. Before you start the journey, talk them into doing it with you. Hell, you can even make it competitive!

This Project is my attempt to make OUR world a better place by making YOUR world a better place. Participation does require you to take some chances, and the folks who put in the most effort will reap the greatest rewards. I’m glad to have you onboard; it’s going to be a life-changing year!
